Hello, tennis fans. Today was another good day at the All England Club where Kyrgios played a terrific match to upset #7 seed Raonic in four sets, 5-7, 7-5, 7-6(3), 6-3. It wasn’t the start Kyrgios wanted, but he played some inspired tennis and almost doubled Raonic’s ace count, out-aceing him 34-18. Raonic was injured at the end, but that was only in the fourth set when Kyrgios already had him in dire trouble. I like Kyrgios. I like his game and he is a character and entertainer.
It is sometimes difficult to know what to make of his showboating. He seems careless at times. He goes for second serve aces on break points all the time. It’s like he has no nerves. I read recently in an article that he doesn’t love tennis. Whatever the case may be he has the talent to be the best and he does win big matches like he did today. And he clearly has a very good serve which is devastating on grass. He also has a huge forehand. He has it all. Just the mental aspect is sometimes a question mark.
He now plays Gasquet who as expected defeated Dimitrov, winning 6-3, 6-4, 6-4. Last year Kyrgios came back from two sets to love down to defeat Gasquet and I think he will win again. I’m liking a Stan vs Kyrgios quarterfinal because Stan defeated Verdasco in straights today and now plays Goffin. Kyrgios can make semis with his draw I think.

Elsewhere in the Draw
Djokovic was in action again today and he made short work of Tomic 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. So far he has looked very comfortable and his serve was looking very good again with 15 aces and 72% first serves. And again he was solid in the forecourt winning 18/23. It will be interesting to see what happens next against Anderson who defeated Mayer in straight sets too. That’s a good win for Anderson and of course he made the final in Queens. He doesn’t have the big match temperament to cause serious problems for Djokovic, but he has a good grass court game and it will be interesting to see if he can win a set or two.
Then Kudla defeated Giraldo and will face the winner of Isner vs Cilic whose match was suspended today due to bad light at 10-10 in the fifth set. I guess Isner loves these marathon matches. Whoever wins there will probably make quarterfinals to face Djokovic and depending on how long they take to finish tomorrow’s match the winner may be tired as well. But who knows. Isner and Cilic are dangerous players on grass as well.

The Prediction Game
Today our prediction match was Kyrgios vs Raonic and eight people got the winner right, while two people got the number of sets right too and only one person, Denis Saikia, got the winner, the number of sets, and the sets in the right order. So he is the winner today with 9 points. Congrats! And congrats to everyone who had the courage to go for Kyrgios. Personally I wanted him to win but wasn’t sure if he could pull it off. I actually thought Raonic might win.
Although Denis Saikia made the biggest move in the rankings Amir is the new number one. Sorry, Joe! 
As for tomorrow’s matches Federer vs Groth will be interesting, but I expect a straight set win for the Swiss. It will be interesting to see what Murray does to Seppi too. Karlovic vs Tsonga could go either way and would work. But in the end I decided to go for Brown vs Troicki because of the ‘Nadal curse’. When players defeat Nadal they always seem to lose in the next round.
So you will have to decide if that will happen again or whether he can keep up his inspired form(which I hope for) and at least make the fourth round. This will be their first meeting and I find it hard to call a winner, which makes it ideal for a predictions match!

Just a quick notice about a technical problem on my blog. There is a problem with the comment notifier because it sends comment notifications even if you haven’t subscribed to comments. This means whenever you leave a comment on a post you will get comment notifications about that post. Some people have complained about it. The solution is to unsubscribe from receiving comments in the email notification that is sent to you. I tested it and it worked.
Sorry for the inconvenience but that is the only way the comment notifications can work. Otherwise, I have to delete the plugin. It’s up to you guys. Personally I don’t care either way. I just wanted people to be able to follow comments if they chose to do so.
